This was my most prolific writing year yet with 175 submissions, 96 rejections, and 91 poems or stories accepted or published. I have a novel and a poetry chapbook coming out in 2019. I finished my MA thesis (another novel) finally! I studied poetry in Belfast and spent almost two weeks at a residency in Nairobi and Loita Hills. My chapbook, The Night Will be Long But Beautiful: The Life and Death of Jeff Lakes was turned into an exquisite art book by Tim van Wijk as part of the Canada Council Print(ed) word project (Loft 112 and Alberta Printmakers). The books were later purchased by the Calgary Public Library and are on permanent display in the new Central Library Reading Room. The catalogue went into a second printing this fall! I was nominated for a Pushcart Prize, two Best of the Nets, and an Alberta Magazine Award. I had the pleasure of collaborating with Stacy Walyuchow and Jo Luke Giles for The People’s Poetry Festival.

If you’ve been following along this year, I thank you from the bottom of my dark little heart!
